K. S. Harisankar
K S Harisankar was born at Thiruvananthapuram on 18th November 1993 as the son of Alappuzha K. S. Sreekumar and M. Kamalalekshmy . He belongs to a family of five generations of renowned musicians. His great grandfather Shri Malabar Gopalan Nair was a top ranking Harmonist cum Vocalist of the 20th century. His great grandmother W/o Shri Malabar Gopalan Nair, was a musician as well as a Harikatha Kalakshepam artist . Also his greatgrand father Shri Anchal Madhavan pilla was a great patron of Music.
Gurus of K. S. Harisankar are his father Shri. K. S. Sreekumar, Professor in Music, S. S. T College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram, his Mother Smt. M. Kamalalekshmy , a proficient Veena artist , his grandmother Dr. K .Omanakutty and his mother's uncle Shri. M. G. Radhakrishnan. He is currently being trained by Shri. Cherthala R. Jayadevan in Mridangam. By singing in twenty five cassettes and four films (Saphalyam, Rishivamsam, Vigathakumaran & Valkannadi) he has made his mark as a child prodigy.His first recording was with his mothers uncle M. G. Sreekumar in the audio cassette 'SABARIMALA' at the early age of three and a half years. Hearing his song sung before Shri Sai Baba in Puttaparthi , Sai Baba created a gold chain on the spot and garlanded him. Ustad Zakir Hussain , the great Tabla player gave him a certificate eulogizing his talents. K. S. Harisankar also having hobbies like tabla playing and Painting. His younger brother K .S .Ravishankar is also a talented musician.Leading force behind this music family is M. P. Gopinathan nair(Harisankar's grandfather) , Who is a very good music lover , Music Critic, and himself is an encycolpedia regarding culture of Kerala.
